B-day, my style

16th October was my birthday, and I forgot about it, until suddenly, I got a call from Shangri-la hotel wishing me a good one. Then around 5pm++, Ann called, and I told her about today, hey, I have no shame. (I also told noris who pretty much told everybody, again, I got no shame! Hehehe...)

Told her I craved Johnny's, and she actually made the effort to meet me at Jusco Cheras Selatan for dinner (a late one at that). Gosh, that was touching. What's even more touching was that she managed to buy a present in that very little time frame she had before coming to meet me. I am lucky to know her as a friend. .

Then, we went for a movie, but nothing interesting was on. So we went for karaoke instead. We started out with a raya song, then we got confused. It seemed that my song choices didn't go too well with her, and vice versa. Finally, we opted for mostly, old songs, and famous Malay songs. Malay songs minah tu tau pulak. Old songs takyah cakapla, that's her specialty. Gosh, our musical tastes couldn't be any more different, eh? But I know her for ages, so I also chose some that I know she once liked, but had forgotten that she once did.

Hehehehe, that session was a hilarious one, and an embarrassing one as well. You know, being in a box with everyone watching you belting out (or so you think you're belting out) from the outside. Rasa macam zoo pon ada gak. But what the heck? It was a celebration kan? An spontaneous one that started very late (at 10pm, ok?), but ended on a high *note*, nonetheless.

Thanks Ann!! (aramak, macam emo la pulak entry kali ni )

Yeah, yeah, I know, we are so into Syawal now. But since this entry is already in the draft folder for like ages, I figured I might as well just post it up today, just so I wont forget what I did last month.

  • 27 Sept : e-lock gathering
That was the first one for me. Apparently they had one bukak puasa last year, and nobody invited me. Dang, and to think that I was the most senior of them all . And I had to force aizan to invite me when I heard about it. I mean like how could u not get curious of the people who joined the company after u left? Well, I was. And boy, was I surprised to see so many of them. I expected like maybe 3-4 people, but there was like 8-9, and that was a pleasant surprise. And I also had a good time, aizan is always fun to have around. I just hope next year nobody will forget about me *tak malu*.

  • 28 Sept : annual midday bukak pose....hehehe
This is turning into an annual event for me and my roommate, it seems

  • 30 Sept : SPCA jumbo sale. Breakfast at Planet, courtesy of catzmedia.com.
I can write tons about the the SPCA sale, but that's like totally irrelevant here, so I'm gonna leave it out. But anyway, we (we? that is as in all the fasting patrons, ok) had fun bukak posa in Planet, and by fun, I mean, the food was GREAT! But you know how it's like, anything free is always great, hehehe .

  • 1 Oct : makan2 with the girls (and some boys)
You know how greedy people get when they're hungry ... well, they get very greedy and very stupid, and always order more than they can consume. And we were that bunch of people that day. Iezma ordered just nice enough food for the 10 of us, but nooooo, Saiful, noris and I didn't trust her judgment, and ordered more before Iezma arrived. And ended up wasting quite a lot of it. Tu la, tamak lagi....

  • 3 Oct : sate kajang with sal/sazly
It was a farewell celebration of their departure later this month. We laughed a lot that day, only to cry a couple of days later . Sal was the first female tutor that I got very close to when I joined this institution. Sure, time passed by, things changed, we made other friends, but she will always hold the distinction of being the first. Boy, we sure did a lot of stuff back then when there were only the 4 of us, huh? Dinosaurs, Georgia Tech, battle stars, GRE, Hoca Cafe... I wonder if those things still mean the same thing to them as they do to me? Ahhhhhh.......

  • 6 Oct : the gathering in IKEA with the PPP girls tht didnt quiet happen
Mary wasn't going, so I decided, nah, maybe not. After all, most of them were Business students, and I'm not exactly close to any of them. So I went to Burger King with ikmal, plus, I got these great BK discount voucher. Then later, we got bored, absentmindedly went to Ikano and kantoi with the girls. And surprisingly, despite thinking that i wouldn't have much to talk about, I actually yaked and yaked and yaked and finally, drank some tea from Aje's cup . Maybe I should've joined them, then I could've yaked even more, hehehe.

  • 7 Oct : breakfast with alem and wan
Had quiet a feast (yes, when there are crabs, it's a feast by my standards ). Alem was the master chef that day, and with his nimbleness in the kitchen, can easily put me anybody to shame. Wan seemed reliable enough as his assistant (probably only in the kitchen). And me? I only bought the kuih and washed the dishes.

  • 12 Oct : Hartz Chicken with my sister
Johnny's or Hartz. Since it was the last day of Ramadan, we might as well go all out. We decided Hartz. The food was just ok. Everybody knows how Hartz is like.

    Pingpong fever - second season

The first season was ages ago. That was when Is was still around. He and Lan, and the tech gang were extremely patient in teaching us (us as in me, noris, farid, oh, KA also played btw) how to play. Gosh, how we learned so much from them then. *And I how miss those bunch of ppl so much as too *

Then, Is left, we got caught up in our MSc. research..... a long hiatus ensued.

But a couple of months ago, Wan came, and I seem to have found a new kaki. And this time, I'm getting serious. You know I'm serious if u can see what I have got myself today.... wooo hooo, ma own paddle, baby!

The wooden paddle is a humble tortoise Donic, but the tape is a stiga-perasan. The case is also a stiga-perasan....hehehe. The rubber was donated to me, so it's all good. Btw, check out the last pic, see the see-through paddle, it's hollow, and supposedly light for stick-thin people like moi. And also, check out the arrow-like pattern on the handle, cute, ain't it? Yellow against a black background sure brings out its color even more (as if people would notice when I'm holding it ). Oh, and did I mention that the tape is made of velvet? So it's soft against the skin, eh, I mean, the air(?), or anyone's finger, heck, it's soft, period!

So there, with a new bat, I better improve! Dang it, I must improve if I wish to represent the faculty in the next uni sport. Now, I just hope there'd be no more screw-ups 'cos next year, I'm taking the medal home wit' me .
