so this morning, like early in the morning, i went to my supervisor's room, wanted to ask him about the direction of my study, and saw what looked like a cake/pie recipe on his table. Thought, hmmm, maybe tht's for his wife, whaddaya know? Manusia biasa rupanya, copy resepi dari internet, rasa cam lawak pun ada gak. So we talked a lil' bit and i went back to my room.
10.15am, isabel-my designated guide/the other phd student pompuan dlm group ni came to my room, ajak turun for coffee break-something tht everyone does everyday. And surprise surprise, she told me they'got a cake for me
. Mak, terkejutnya. Now that explains the recipe on my sv's table.
Apparently, it's a tradition in the group that the b'day boy/girl brings a cake, but because i'm new, they baked one for me. Yes, they baked it themselves a day earlier and hid it until today, and by them, I mean, isabel, feng, toby (mamat ni la kawan sebilik, kira pengganti noris la) and my SV. Terharunya bila pikir diorg bawak bahan2 sume then masak kat pantry. Isabel la tekongnya with my SV being the tukang heboh. She said, it was done in like minutes with the help from the guys. Sungguh tak leh nak imagine mamat2 ni masak kek. I'm just so touched just thinking about it. Baru je 4 hari kat sini, diorg dah buat mcm2. And they're like, totally defies everything i read about the german people who r said to be cold and aloof and rigid and everything that they're not, as far as demeanor is concerned tht is, but like the way they work, adoooi, i'm suffering from inferiority complex oredi laaaa.....
oh, btw, did i mention, today is my birthday :D
